Angle heads and side milling heads are important accessories and tools in the machine tool industry.
They can improve the lack of flexibility in machine tool processing. Machine tool processing requirements are already quite complex,
and when using angle heads in conjunction with them, it is crucial to pay close attention to the usage precautions,
as these directly affect the machining results. Common precautions include the following:
First, the machine tool must be capable of three-dimensional machining. This capability is achieved thanks to its X, Y, and Z axes, and the angle head's flexibility must be well-matched with these three axes.
If it is parallel to any one of these axes, then the machine tool must have the linkage capability of two or more axes to operate normally.
If it is not parallel to any of these three axes, then more than three axes with linkage capability must be present for the machine tool to function properly.
Second, to extend the service life of the angle head, it is important to test run it for a period of time before the machine tool is put into full operation.
Generally, the time should be controlled within 5 minutes, and the speed should ideally be 500 rpm. During machine tool operation,
the angle head sometimes needs to rotate at high speeds. Operators must carefully control the time during this period,
as the wear on the angle head is quite severe during high-speed machining. When machining with the angle head, minimize the depth of cut, increase the feed rate,
and raise the spindle speed. This is unlike general machining, where reducing the depth of cut and performing multiple passes reduces the load on the angle head and extends its lifespan.
Thirdly, to minimize the probability of angle head malfunctions during operation, pay close attention to the details of the installation process.
While some operators may have some knowledge of installation, they may lack professional expertise.
Therefore, if it is the first time installing the angle head, it is essential to communicate thoroughly with a professional installer.
