According to the structure and appearance, the power tool holder can be divided into 0° power tool holder, 90° power tool holder, right-angle retracted power tool holder, eccentric power tool holder, dual-axis output power tool holder and other special-purpose tool holders (such as: universal power tool holder, gear hobbing power tool holder, slot power tool holder, etc.);
According to the cooling method, it can be divided into: external cooling tool holder and external cooling plus internal cooling (center water outlet) tool holder;
According to the input interface type, the power tool holder can be divided into VDI, BMT, etc.
The coupling of the power tool holder can generally be divided into the European and American standard quick-change tool holder VDI interface and the Japanese and Korean standard bolt-tightening BMT interface.
1) VDI interface: It is a method of fixing the tool holder on the turret by engaging a bevel wedge with the serrations at the tail of the tool holder. It appeared relatively early and can realize the fast and faster installation of the tool holder on the turret. The interface standard is unified and there are many manufacturers, but the rigidity and repeat positioning accuracy of the interface have become the bottleneck restricting the power tool holder. European and American turning centers have many VDI interfaces, which are suitable for light cutting occasions.
· Slotted type: Italian Duplomatic axial entry turret drive gear DIN1809;
· Zero point positioning gear type (involute bolt groove type): German SAUTER improved turret drive gear DIN5480/5482;
· Plum blossom type: Italian BARUFFALDI turret drive gear SPUR MT TOEM;
· T-shaped gear: American HASS turret drive gear;
· Bevel gear: German TRAUB turret drive gear.
2) BMT interface: Four bolts are used to fix the tool holder and the turret. It has strong rigidity and high repeatability. However, it is relatively troublesome to replace the tool holder. In addition, this interface appeared relatively late. There is no unified standard at present. Each manufacturer has its own different BMT interface. They are not interchangeable. Most turning centers in Japan and South Korea use BMT interface, which is suitable for heavy cutting.
