To increase production speed, a hydraulic steady rest with three jaws, often with soft jaws, is often used for gripping circular rotating steel parts.
It offers high positioning accuracy, is simple and convenient, and is less likely to damage the workpiece surface.
Before using the steady rest, adjust the operating pressure range of the steady rest.
Check the steady rest pressure gauge on the lower left front of the machine and adjust the pressure relief valve to ensure the appropriate gripping force.
The steady rest can be opened and closed by the system or manually by pressing the buttons on the control panel.
First, adjust the steady rest position so that the steady rest rollers grip an intact support. Loosen the clamping bolts directly in front of the steady rest base.
Adjust the right pin of the steady rest and insert it into the slot on the backing plate. Move the backing plate. Once the position is confirmed,
replace the pin and tighten the front bolts. Secure the hydraulic steady rest behind the machine bed. While the workpiece is rotating,
ensure that the two lower jaws evenly contact the workpiece support surface and tighten. Adjust the upper support jaw position around the upper cover.
Once the position is correct, tighten. The support claws of the machine tool accessories apply force evenly, with appropriate tightness and natural and smooth movement.
Each support claw applies force evenly, so that the support surface remains in the original space. The support surface is coaxial with the spindle rotation center,
preventing uneven pressure on each support claw and deviation from the center, resulting in over-positioning.
